RESUMO

The subject of this work is to present the family production within an specific framework of social reproduction - the "assentamento" of the Brazilian agrarian reform project - and to analyse the strategies of adaptation and social reproduction in this case. The social actor - the "assentado" - is here seen as a new family farmer, since he accessesses the land, - the "assentamento" - among other differentiated factors, through the national rural social movements, which place him in a different position, in terms of claims of organization, political, credit and production orders. The structure of the family production is here referred to its historical contextualization, as both the classical and contemporary studies about peasantry are explored as the necessary topics to the comprehension of some situations and theorethical issues of this cathegory until nowadays. Also, the social and economic strategies the family producers put in practice in order of meet their needs are analysed. The discussion concemed the pluriactivity is placed getting as a theoretical issue studies develloped since the 60 s among the French family farmers and how this fact has been presented in the Brazilian structure, specially among the "assentados", cinsidered as a new family farmer This cathegory "in construction" is supported by an idea of processo The "assentado", in this context, searches for an adjustment between his past (traditional) and one other situation: new practices of management, closer connection with the market and technology.
