RESUMO

This work has the objective of producing and evaluating the following wood panels: plywood, particleboards and OSB panels. From the results of this evaluation, it is intended to indicate which of the 6 clones of Eucalyptus urophylla presents the greatest potential for the production of these panels. The material object of study is from clonal tests owned by Companhia Mineira de Metais - Unit Agroflorestal (VM-AGRO), located in the municipality of Paracatu, in the northwest region of Minas Gerais, Brazil. For the production of the particleboards the particles were dried to a moisture content of 3%. It was used ureaformaldehyde resin with 8% (based on ovendry weight of wood particles), 40kgf/cm2 of pressure at a temperature of 160C, for 8 minutes. The particles for the production of OSB panels were dried to a moisture content of 3%, to the ratio between external and internal layers of 25:50:25. The resin used was phenol-formaldehyde, to 6% (based on ovendry weight of wood particles), 40kgf/cm2 of pressure at a temperature of 180C, for 8 minutes. For the production of plywood, the slides were dried to a moisture from 6 to 8%. The pressure was 15kgf/cm2 used for the panels made from Eucalyptus urophylla and 10kgf/cm2 for the panels made with Pinus oocarpa at a temperature of 150 C for 10 minutes. The adhesive used was phenol formaldehyde resin, weighs 320g in double line. The clone 4 that got better average results in tests of physical and mechanical particleboards, as well as the other clones, can be used in the production of these panels and they may be used by industry in the manufacture of furniture such as kitchen, bathroom, office and living room cabinets, wardrobe, benches, bedside table, sideboards, and others. The clone 1,wich achieved the best results average among all clones, and also the other clones may be used in the production of OSB panels and these panels may be used by the furniture industry in the internal coating of couch, chairs and seats in the manufacture of furniture such as kitchen, bathroom, office and living room cabinets, wardrobe, benches, bedside table, sideboards, and others, mainly in furniture requiring physical and mechanics strength. The clone 5, which obtained better results, as well as all other clones, can be used in the production of plywood, and these panels may be used by industry in the manufacture of furniture such as kitchen, bathroom, office and living room cabinets, wardrobe, benches, bedside table, sideboards, and others, mainly in furniture requiring resistance to moisture and curvilinear and winding furniture. These panels can also be used by the building industry as linings, floor and walls bases, and others.
