RESUMO

A reliable, simple and inexpensive method was developed to produce potechial lesions in the gastric mucosa of rats, b immobilizing the animals, without submitting them to low temperature conditions, to surgical processes or anesthesia. The potencial lesions plus the accompanying hyperemia, referred to as pre-ulcerative lesions, were studies also in animals treated by one of several drugs in solution, administered into the peritoneal cavity. Also the direct challenging of the stomach by the administration through gastric tube of solutions of variable concentrations to analyse its influence on the lesions induced by the immobilization, was performed. The protection of the gastric mucosa from these lesions was the most frequent results, and was interpreted as inespecific counter-irritation phenomena induced by local or distant tissue reaction to previous contact with the different substances. Copper sulphate and cooper chloride solutions administered through gastric tube did not protect the mucosa from the lesions, with N-acetylcysteine increased their severety. The mechanisms involved and some factors potentially able to affect the inducement of the lesions or the protection of the mucosa were analysed
