RESUMO

This study evaluated the effect of different irrigation depths and environment out-of-season production of yellow passion. We evaluated the productivity and fruit quality of yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims F. flavicarpa Deg.) in the period February to October of 2007 in the experimental area, Engineering Department from Federal University of Lavras (UFLA), Lavras, Minas Gerais. The experiment was conducted in randomized blocks, with the stress of the soil ranging from 15 kPa to 60 kPa. According to data obtained from production, significant differences were found only for water use efficiency, weight, diameter and classification of fruits. Fruits Extra AAA type were the main contributors to the total production of yellow passion fruit, with an average of 70,1% of the greenhouse and 58,0% in the natural environment. The fruits harvested in protected environments showed better quality than those harvested in natural environment, featuring smaller amount of scrap. The tension of water available in the soil of 60 kPa at the time of irrigation is the most recommended for the management, because there were no statistical differences between the average productivity achieved.
