RESUMO

The Nursing Process is basic in a departament as the Intensive Care Unit, because it integrates and organizes the work of the Nursing team reducing the fragmentation of the cares ensuring the continuity of them, as much to evaluate its effectiveness or to modify them according to the results in the patient#s recovery and it serves as permanent basis for education, researches and in Nursing management. This study it is a methodological research and of technological production, of quantitative nature, that aimed to evaluate with the nurses of two general Intensive Care Units the criteria of Ergonomics, Content and Usability of the computerized Process of Nursing in a mobile device type PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) developed in accordance with the International Classification for the Nursing Practice - ICNP - Version 1.0. The study was conducted in the period of May and June of 2008, with a population of 13 appraisers constituted by nurses, teachers and Computer programmers. It was approved by the Committees of Ethics in Research of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (protocol n 0264/07) and of the Regional Hospital Homero de Miranda (protocol n 010/08). The methodology for construction of the computerized system considered the steps of development of information systems including: the survey of requirements, the analysis of the computerized technology, the structure and modeling of the data and its implementation. For the development of the system in the mobile device (Palm Treo 650), THE RESEARCHERS USED the APACHE Server, the WxHTML language and the Data base MySQL. The results evidenced that the system has the criteria of Ergonomics and Usability being considered as #excellent# for the appraisers. In the Ergonomic evaluation, the criterion #Content# received the best evaluation being considered excellent by the nurses and professors. The criteria #Organization#, #Interface# and #Technician# were considered as #Very good#. In the 19 items evaluated in the criterion of Usability, only 2 of them were considered as #Very Good#, and the others 17 items were evaluated as #Excellent#. It is concluded that the Nursing Process in the PDA environment associated with the ICNP version 1.0 showed to be an adequate and efficient structure, therefore it was possible to the nurses to organize and develop the logical reasoning in the process to attend/to take care of the patients interned in Intensive Therapy, allowing to establish a concrete relation between the clinical evaluations, the diagnostics, the interventions and the results of Nursing through the computerized tools.
