RESUMO

In this paper we try to establish the grade of relationship existing among various Guanabara Bay water quality parameters and LANDSAT MSS video data. We have chosen an empirical: basis approach, but we had to select, from the available data, some parameters as follows: chlorophyll, water transparency using Secchi disk, salinity and dissolved ammonia. Only two overflights could be used, due to the fact that in the other ones there were no simultaneous ground truth data. At the same time, digital video data processings were compared in order to improve a better adjustment: between both data sets. Linear and nonlinear regression analyses were utilized, sets comparing original data with processed ones by using the correlation coefficient and the estimation mean error. The results showed that it is possible to obtain better adjusted data by means of some radiometric correction programs with a phsycal basis, contrast ratio, and normalization.Some other interesting results have been found, such as the detection of certain targets in water. comparing original data with processed ones by using the correlation coefficient and the estimation mean error.
