RESUMO

This work had like objective to verify if the aging process influence is a determinate factor on the alteration of the hearing processing (central). It was valued 40 individuals with age between 50- 83 years old, divided in: Group A (10 individuals with normal hearing), group B (10 individuals with normal hearing to the age) and group C (20 individuals with neurosensorial hearing loss). All the subjects were submitted to the anamnesis, SSW test and dichotic digital test. The datas were analyzed and classified according with the order of the alteration, hearing ability, ear and hearing condition that was more harmed. It were verified in all groups alteration of the hearing processing (central), however, in the group with hearing loss, the order of the alteration were more severe. The imperfection more recurrent it was resulted from the hearing condition with competition and the hearing ability more affected was picture-background. In relation to the input it occurred by the left ear; the subjects had worse results. Through the results and analyses, it can be concluded that there is an important relation between the hearing processing (central) and the aging, and this relation increases in the presence of peripherical hearing commitment. These are relevant dates that can help on the process of selection and adaptation of the hearing aid, and on a better management to the aging hearing rehabilitation of the individuals with hearing loss.
