Prevalence of congenital orofacial fissures diagnosticated in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul / Prevalência das fissuras orofaciais congênitas diagnosticadas no estado de Mato Grosso do Sul

RESUMO

The orofacial fissures detached among the congenit anomalies that show a clinic diversity, occurring isolated or associated to others anomalies. The aim of these observational study of transversal court was determinate the prevalence of the types of congenital orofacial fissures, diagnosticated at Hospital de Anomalias Craniofaciais (HRAC/USP), about cases of Mato Grosso do Sul, during january of 2003 to december of 2007. It was studied the congenital orofacial fissures cases and no sindromics. About 271 cases were diagnosticated for the SPINA classification, and unilateral incisive transforamen cleft predominant to the left side fissures prevailed and charged with most frequence the masculine gender and white etnia. At SINASC it were notificated 98 cases of fissures for the same period, corresponding to the prevalence of 0,49/thousand of births. At these study was possible to estimate the prevalence of fissures from the data of hospital and SINASC. Feature studies about epidemiology of orofacials fissures at Mato Grosso do Sul and Centro-Oeste region, using uniform terminology for the classification were necessary to compare and to attend the temporal evolution of the prevalence.
