RESUMO

The purpose of the study was to evaluate the prevalence of anal lesions HPV related in a group of 60 men with HIV/Aids. Demographic aspects, drug lifetime history and cigarette use, HIV status and sexual behavior were also observed. The patients underwent anal cytology, anoscopy with magnification and anal biopsy to detection of the lesions. The mean age of the group was 41,9 years and a mean time of HIV positivity of 6,8 years. From the studied patients, 88,3% were taking highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) for mean time of 6,5 years. The homosexual represented 43,3% and bisexual and heterosexual comprised 15,0% and 41,7%, respectively. Most men (63,3%) had history of receptive anal intercourse and 35,0% had more than ten sexual partners during their lifetime. The prevalence of anal lesion by anoscopy with magnification, cytological testing and histological testing were, respectively 35,0%, 16,7% and 23,3%. Of the patients with abnormal biopsy, 85,7% were homosexual or bisexual and 14,3% were heterosexual (p=0,02) and 78,6% presented more than ten lifetime sexual partners. The CD4 + cell count, HIV plasma viral load and current HAART use didnât demonstrate association with the diagnostic of the anal lesions. The anal lesions occurrence was elevated in the individuals with HIV/Aids, mainly in the homosexual and bisexual, however occurred too in heterosexual
