RESUMO

The current politics of reorganisation of the health system in Brazil utilises a domiciliar service strategy and has as the basis of its action a primary attention which revalues the use of practices of health in residence. This practice which is historically and culturally attributed to women, influences people and it is influenced by different social practices. This study has as aim to analyse the heath practices directed to women which are carried out in residence. This work has been developed by the health community agents of one districts in Salvador which reproduces gender inequalities. The qualitative methodology and the dialectic historical materialism was used as the theoretical-philosophical reference. It was used for the data collection, participant observation as well as a semi-structured interview based on content analysis, whose interviewed people were health community agents. The domiciliar visit represents a revalued working tool. The articulation of the health community agents is shown with some deficiencies when related to the services of spontaneous demands. The work done by the agents reproduces characteristics of the medicalassistencial pattern. Following the same way, the healthy practices which are related to promotion and prevention of some health problems are not sufficient to face the conflicts and existing needs of the domiciliar sphere. The unprepared agents have difficulties when dealing with complex problems which reproduce gender inequalities in the way that the role of woman is reinforced as the only carer, what reaffirms the sexists stereotypes.
