RESUMO

This research presents as problem to analyze the use of texts in classroom, aiming at to understand the pedagogical direction that guides the activities of reading in the school and if it inserts in the Line of Research 2: Pedagogical practical and its relations with the teaching formation, of the Program of Mastership in Education of the UCDB. The objective constituted in investigating the conceptions of reading that are present in the performance of the teachers and pupils in a classroom of fourth and fifth series. As methodological procedure we opt to the ethnographic research. We initiate for the observation in a classroom of fourth series, in a municipal school of Campo Grande and continue observing these pupils in the beginning of the fifth series. Simultaneously, we made a detailed study of literature referential to the subject, followed of interview with the involved citizens and analysis of data. The results of the research disclose that the reading practical presuppose, most of the time, a univocal construction of direction, from the interpretation of the teacher, having a uniformization of behaviors in the work with texts of different sorts; we evidence, from the fifth series, a reduction of the activities that prepare for the act to read. We conclude that the conception of reading as decodification is predominant in the two series and determines the activities of reading in the classroom. The pupils pass visor school pronouncing texts, without guarantee that they have understood what they read.
