RESUMO

This work assessed the performance of domestic sewage treatment pilot unit consisting of anaerobic reactor followed dissolved-air flotation/filtration (DAFF). Associated ferric chloride was used polyelectrolytes. First, was tested in lab-scale dissolved-air flotation (LSDAF), low dosages of cationic synthetic polymer with high molecular weight as aiding of flotation. Coagulant dosages was given in mg Fe/L by unit of turbidity (NTU) of RALEx and it varied from 0,08 to 0,16 in LSDAF. The fixed dosages of polymer associated to the ferric chloride happened between 0,1 and 0,4 mg/L.The variables operational of the LSDAF and DAFF were: velocity gradient (90/s), flocculation time (18 min), recirculation rate (15%), air requirements (12 g air/M POT.3), saturation pressure (450±10 kPa) and surface load (300 M POT.3/M POT.2.d). In pilot unit DAFF, of bed filter of sand was used, with effective size of 0,8 mm and depth the same to 1,10 m. Best results were achieved with 0,15 mg Fe/L per turbidity associated to 0,4 mg/L of polyelectrolytes, producing final effluent with TSS <2 mg/L. For the conditions of this research, provide that the polyelectrolyte in LSDAF, effluent with lower turbidity, is characterized: cationic, high molecular weight and high load density. It was verified in the pilot essays with dosages of polymer between 0,4 and 1,2 mg/L thickening sludge >3%.
