RESUMO

This work aims to propose strategies for the development of touristic activity of the Metropolitano Armando de Holanda Cavalcanti Park, which is situated in Cabo de Santo Agostinho district. Along its natural, historical and cultural potential, the area has got also peculiar characteristics which may help the execution of the actions that intend to allow a higher touristic flow, with befefits for the local community. For a better understanding of the public politics that aims tourism, the study is based on mainly focus, which are: touristic activities, local development and environmental management. The conceptualization of the touristic term detaches the importance of the activity as a means of development and increasing the employment rate as well as income. As a permanent process of of planning, strategies based on social necessities were developped; among them, the environment concern. The propositions developed according to the research were: capitalization of natural potential of the area through racional exploitation of environmental and cultural attractions. Rational exploitation of trails; increasing local income and usage of all its cultural potentials plus leisure; establishment of programmes of all the activities related to the Park, aiming the qualities and offerec services
