The following study intends to go deep into dysphonia in university teachers, due to the large incidence of vocal disorders among these professionals. The voice disorder related to the work is evaluated as any voice alteration linked with its use during the professional activity which decreases or damages the persons communication. This research has a quantitative approach, with comparative analysis of the data. It is a transversal and description study. The aim of this study is to relate the vocal parameters of university teachers with their own perception of their voices. 86 teachers of both sex from the Nursing School of Ribeirão Preto participated on the sampling SP, (EERP). In order to collect the data, It was used a valid questionnaire with data related to the signs and vocal symptoms divided as: population characteristics, selection criteria, auditory perception, habits, strategies, precautions and labor conditions. It was applied an evaluation of the vocal parameters composed of two parts: one check-list with nine items (identification of the judge and the number of subjects in the research, the kinds of voices, the level of voice alteration, the vocal attack, the loudness, o pitch, the resonance, the articulation, the speed, lungs coordination and the modulation) in a dictionary with the definition of each of nine the terms. The perception evaluation - was done by one judge, fonoaudiólogos and voice specialists. They evaluated the teachers voices in adapted and deviated. After this, it was checked the level of reliability to verify the internal consistence of the values. Statistic tests were done. Besides the questionnaire, the Free Observation Technique was uses by the researcher. It was found that when the teachers were evaluated by the judges perception in adapted and deviated voices, both group perceptions were different. According to the judge, the teachers with adapted voices showed a kind of voice without alteration, absent voice deviated, vocal attack isochronic, medium loudness and pitch, unbalanced resonance, accurate articulation, correct speed and inadequate lung coordination. The deviated voices teachers showed harsh voice, vocal attack isochronic, medium loudness and pitch, unbalanced resonance, accurate articulation and inadequate lung coordination. It was statistically proved that the variations noise and stress out of the work and pneumofonoarticulatória coordination are strong factors for the teacher to get voice alteration. Even when they are professionals who work with health, the EERP-USP teachers can not notice the risk factors in their work environment that can damage their voices. Professors and judges have different opinions about problems and risk factors regarding voice, inside or outside the work environment. Regarding the teachers hearing perception it should be done an observation work as well as a work watching the teachers vocal health during their professional graduation.
