RESUMO

The Topology Optimization is a numerical method which is able to provide in an automatic way the layout of a mechanic structure which attends a specific project criterion. In such case, this work begins with a revision of the literature about the structural optimization searching for a familiarization with the theme and its approaching. The studied method bases on an analysis of finite elements, detached the triangular finite element of free formulation proposed by Bergan and Felippa (1985). In this context, it is approached the topology optimization problem through the use of two techniques: the conventional ESO Evolutionary Structural Optimization, under criterion of maximum stress of a structure in a procedure called hard-kill, which material is slowly removed in the finite element mesh, and a new and evolutionary technique, designated SESO Smoothing ESO, which philosophy is based on the observation that if the element it is not really necessary in the structure, naturally your severity contribution reduces progressively, until it does not have any influence of the structure, it means it will be removed in a smooth way. For the research and verification of the implemented techniques, were valued classic examples of 2D elasticity in this context, on the benchmarks, as described in the literature on this subject. During the investigation some examples, like those with body force, and some problems of topological optimization were analyzed as the formation of the "checkerboard" and "mesh-dependence", so it was implemented a special filter of stress which is associated at the SESO technique was efficient in the exclusion of the same. At the end are presented the main conclusions and suggestions to future works that are included in this research area.
