RESUMO
The development of new technology and environmental polices are a factor of collaboration for the expansion of the natural gas reserves. Today the natural gás hás a expressive participation in the energy matrix of the world and in the Latin America also, where its consumption hás observed a expressive increase. Often the natural gás need to be transported on large distance by pipelines, from the production field to the consumption markets. This work studies the optimization problem of natural gás transportation in a long pipeline using a dynamic programming approach. The model is applied to a real transportation system: the pipeline Bolivia-Brazil. The computational results of the case study are discussed, confirming the potential application of this approach
