RESUMO

This study proposes to investigate the composing of Inconfidência Mineira inthe imaginary of the XIX century, trying to understand how the historical episode was articulated in narrative and poetic forms, which founded myths and aspects of the national. Thus, it examines the first historiographic and mainly fictional appropriations from the historical marter in view of the usual notions of science and literary art in XIX century, identifying, in the discursive series (historiography and literature), the precepts of that time of demanding nationalism. Among the analyzed texts, there are works of Joaquim Norberto de Sousa Silva, Tomás Antônio Gonzaga, Teixeira e Sousa, Castro Alves, Pereira da Silva, Bernardo Guimarães, Machado de Assis. Timing this discourses, this research traces, in the 1800 s, the evolution of a narrative and symbolic path about the conspiracy of 1789 which, at the first moment, serves to the invention of a tradition to the Empire, and, after, supports the genealogy of an emerging republic, revealing, therefore, the ideological instruments in the writing of the past
