RESUMO

Mechanical parameters used in the analysis and design of structures, such as the elasticity modulus and the yielding stress for the material as well as the loads, are in fact, random rather than deterministic variables as they are usually considered. Consequently, the structural response, such as displacements and stresses, are also random variables, and in this way, there are uncertainties while determining these variables. In this work the uncertainties related to the mechanical parameters for the material and, as consequence, the uncertainties corresponding to structural response will be taken into account in the optimum design of framed structures, such as trusses and frames. For the determination of the structural response considering uncertainties, the linear statistical method will be applied. The sensitivity analyses will be performed by the direct analytical method and the interior point algorithm will be used as optimization algorithm.
