RESUMO

Rubber compositions of copoly(butadiene-styrene) (SBR) with incorporation of an expanded residue from shoe industry (SBR scraps) were developed aiming later application to obtain cellular composites.n The amounts of the incorporated SBR-r varied from 0 to 30 phr. The SBR scraps were ground and the obtained powder (SBR-r) was characterized by chemical composition, granulometry, thermal properties, morphology and gel content. Solids and cellular compositions were prepared on a two roll mill, manufactured using compression molding and were evaluated as for their rheometric, physical, chemical, mechanical, thermal and morphology characteristics. Some of these properties were evaluated before and after accelerated ageing, for the cellular compositions. It was observed that properties are improved on the incorporation of SBR-r content up to 20 phr, for the solids compositions. The results obtained for the cellular compositions showed that the decomposition of foaming chemical agent (azodicarbonamide) affect the elastomer structure because occurring the cross-link destruction. Properties obtained with cellular composite are the result of quantity of elastomeric compound, amount of foaming chemical agent, parameters control process and SBR-r content. The cellular composites samples exhibited closed cell, smaller cell size (less 10 ) and medium density of 0,50 gcm-3.
