RESUMO

This work reports the preparation of macroporous inorganic materials by different methods involving colloidal crystals. The emulsion templating method employs emulsion droplets as porous templates around which the oxide precursor is deposited through a sol-gel process. In the latex templating method, latex spheres are employed as porous templates, also associated to a sol-gel process to obtain the final inorganic matrix. Using both methods, different oxides (TiO2, SiO2 e ZrO2) were prepared, and after the appropriate thermal treatment, the final macroporous solids were formed. These macroporous solids reflected the self-organization of the original colloidal crystal templates - emulsion droplets and latex spheres. The preparation of composites obtained from CdS semiconductor particles formed on the macroporous inorganic matrices through different methods was also studied. AlI materials were characterized using X-ray diffraction, FT-IR, Raman and UV-Vis spectroscopies, optical and scanning electron microscopies, and thermal analysis.
