O voto do eleitor jovem : do ideal democratico a experiencia cidadã

RESUMO

o tema fundamental desta tese está voltado para compreensão do voto do eleitor jovem, ou seja, daquele que está sendo iniciado nessa forma de participação política que é o direito de votar. A pesquisa de campo foi feita na cidade de Uberlândia, Estado de Minas Gerais, em escolas públicas da periferia, transformadas em seções de votação. Foram investigados os dois turnos das Eleições Gerais de 1994 e das Eleições Municipais de 1996. A metodologia de trabalho incluiu a observação etnográfica e a análise sócio-histórica do contexto investigado. Apreender a expressão eleitoral do jovem que está votando pela primeira vez foi o objetivo da tese, o que possibilitou discutir a participação eleitoral do grupo investigado independente - e até mesmo em confronto - com as idealizações construídas em tomo deste ato. Votar como um exercício democrático, necessário para fazer desse eleitor um cidadão, foi uma questão que envolveu toda a análise. O conhecimento do cotidiano eleitoral do jovem possibilitou discutir situações como a sociabilidade, a ritualidade e a própria decisão do voto como uma esfera que comporta inúmeros significados, muito além do sentido estritamente político de votar Abstrasct: The fundamental theme of this study is pointed to the comprehension of the youth s vote, that is, the one who is being introduced into this form of political participation, which is the right to vote. The field research was done in the city of Uberlândia, in the state of Minas Gerais in the public schools I Tom the outskirts. These schools were divided in voting sections.
