RESUMO

The conscience of preserving the architectural patrimony made possible for the contemporary intervention projects an increasing valuation of the preexisting. These interventions seek establishing a dialogue between the present and the past, allied to a search of adequate techniques that allow to differentiate these times, exposing technological changes and making possible, at the same time, harmony to the group. With that in mind, the work seeks analyzing the behavior of the steel when used in the interventions in historical constructions, in accordance with the relative theories to the preservation of the patrimony. Allied to this concern with the valuation of the old, the work seeks analyzing the adequacy of the steel in the interfaces of the architecture and structure, considering aesthetics, functionality, comfort, technique, savings, strength. The increasing awareness of preserving the architectural heritage provides a contemporary intervention projects for major concern with the recovery of pre-existing. These interventions seek a dialogue between present and past, combined with a demand for proper techniques enabling differentiate the two seasons, explaining technological changes and providing, at the same time, the harmony together. From there, the study aimed to analyse the behaviour of steel when used in operations in historic buildings, according to the theories concerning the preservation of heritage. Allied to this concern with the recovery of the former, the work sought to analyze the adequacy of steel in architecture and structure of interfaces, with regard to aesthetics, functionality, comfort, technology, economy, resistance of the material.
