O significado da didÃtica na formaÃÃo do profissional docente: um olhar a partir da prÃtica do professor de ensino superior

RESUMO

The didactic knowledge in the teacherâs training, especially in higher education, is considered to be very important. Nowadays it seems to be one of the most relevant, due to the fact that the importance of the didactic is implicit in many other fields. This study tries to make continuity of this debate and it focus on the importance of the didactic in the teacherâs training and it looks at the teaching practice in higher education, dealing with topics about the history of the didactic, the teacherâs training in higher education courses and the pedagogical practice, so that it could contribute, even in a provisional way, to understand this problem. These categories were always present during this study whose aim was to understand the importance of the didactic, having as the main premise the perception of the teachers in higher education, showing an analysis of importance in relation to their pedagogical practice and also identifying the pedagogical elements given by the teachers. In this research, the qualitative approach was used and the literature was broadening to give more support. Between April and August 2004, the fieldwork happened and it included interviews and teaching observation. Ten teachers were observed during this period: five from Alfa university and five from Beta university and they teach at five different courses: Biology, Geography, History, Arts and Mathematics in two cities in Pernambuco: Arcoverde and Garanhuns. Six out of ten teachers (three from each university) were interviewed and they had also four of their lessons observed. These analyses, even though they are provisional, show that there had been some improvement in this area nowadays. The teaching practice in higher education seems to be more incisive in the teacherâs training courses. Itâs the importance of the use of the didactic in the teacherâs practice and the knowledge of it, which will help us to have some better changes in the teacherâs attitude
