RESUMO

This Work examines the return migration process to Pernambuco, proceeding from the state of São Paulo, in the periods of 1970-80 and 1981-91 census, trying to identify until where the migratory flow between these two states feeds a "come and go" round movement of the migrants of Pernambuco and how far it can show a reversibility of the undertaken movement by the migrants that decided, indeed, to return to its origin residence. It takes as data source 1980 and 1991 demografic census, on account of being the disposable source of information about migration, that represents large territorial extensions and that makes possible the study of the movements inherent to this phenomenon, beginning from 70 s. It tries to minimize the limitations of data census just to apprehend the migration as a social process, choosing a flow determinated by the native born migrants from Pernambuco - PE in their way to São Paulo - SP and back to the native place, trying traces of social nets established in the migration return process. By means of special tabulations of demografic census, it exceeds the expressivity of the migratory flow established between Pernambuco and São Paulo, in the context of the brazilian intern migrations; it identifies the most relevant change spaces between these two states, it analyses the characteristics of the migratory flux selected, giving prominence to the family as a collective element in this flux, of the which links are social nets makers; and, at last, it values the tendencies of circularity and reversibility of the migratory movement analysed. As result, notwithstanding it has found traces of reemigration increase and, therefore, of migrants circularity, in distinct proportions to the state and its regions, this work did not find empirical sustenance, from the data census on, to affirm that such phenomenon could justify the important increase of return migration, in flow migratory PE-SP-PE, the return did not imply, for many migrants, necessarily, the perspective of return to emigrate to São Paulo, characterizing the reversibility of return movement, including to the Development Region of Agreste Central, where ran a lot of migrants returned to
