RESUMO

This research has been developed based on the analysis of content of the textbooks of History of Brazil of the Secondary Level, nominated by MEC to be adopted at state public schools in the city of Recife, Pernambuco. As to the collected data treatment, the analysis by category was adopted from Laurence Bardin (1977). The selected categories are the following: the indigenous slave work, the black slave work; the racism, the discrimination; the physical violence, symbolical violence/ the resistance; the abolitionism and the social exclusion. In the analysis of those categories, it can be seen the black slavesâ grief transcribed in the pages of the examined textbooks. The need to elaborate the research with the theme on the black, their role in the society, discrimination and established prejudices in textbooks is made necessary, mainly in the last years, when the different public and social political intelligences converged with a hardy look at the social conflicts, their causes, impediments, as well as the conquests by the social movements. From the analysis done in the textbooks of the History of Brazil of the Secondary Level, by the authors Piletti &Piletti, Schmidt, Furtado &Villa, a progress in the presentation of historical facts with relation to the blacks was noticed. The great exclusion is noticed in the books of the 8th grade, where the black after the Abolition is crossed off our history. With the recent Law 10.639/2004, making the teaching of âHistory of Africa and of the Africanâ obligatory in the public schools, that gap should be filled out by new committed authors with a great responsibility: showing up the black as the builder of the nation and of the Brazilian society, getting them rid of a cruel and discriminatory exclusion
