RESUMO

This dissertation has as a central focus that is the comprehension the adolescents express about their school living experience, mainly, about the way they see the math teachers performance and, yet, their own way of conceiving this science. This work is focused on an investigation with qualitative importance, realized together with a group of adolescents from a public school from Juiz de Fora MG. The main purpose of this work is to provoke a thought of the knowledge available at school, specially the knowledge about math. To achieve that, it is started from a historical-philosophical discussion about the concepts of math, going over Socrates, Platão, Pitágoras and Descartes in order to have a comprehension of the concepts of math nowadays. Concerning the math education, it is expected that this research can contribute to think over about the teachers performance and the mathematical knowledge at schools. The finds of this work ratify the main role of the language in the development process, confirming the need of establishing a better interaction between the teachers and the students, once it gets essential to listen to the students who are supposed to be seen as receivers inside the classroom, which should be built up as a capable place to offer an interaction of the interlocutions, the teachers and the students
