RESUMO

The aim of this study is to analyse the social and political behavior of university youth in its fundamental aspects, taking as empiric reference the university students of Unesp - campus of Bauru. Although this social category comes as a wordwide phenomenon of social relevance since the modernity beginning, this analyses refers to the 80 and 90 decades, focusing on the sixties in Brazil, because during this period the youth lived one of *s largest political dissension and transformations in the social and cultural fields. In this sense this study intended to evidence the youth dynamics during this period, as well as to point out its contradictions and more significant experiences in the social and political fields. Interviews were imployed so that we could identify the daily activities of university student group and had the necessary parameters to analyse the character of its manifestations as a way of knowing the political, cultural and religious actions. The theoretical and methodological frames intend to point out fundamental subjects about the youth nature, the analyses and interpretations especially produced by the Sociology, regarding the theme in subject. In this sense, we list significant authors involved with youth studies, emphasizing those concerned with the university student understanding as subject of historical processes, in the given period. This way, this study embraces the causes of the youth notion constitution, its nature, dilemmas and contradictions. It brings as reference a historical contribution on the Brazilian society that suffers deep economic, social and political transformations in the brief period of three decades. These contributions affected the youth social and political behavior in such a way that deep transformations are verified in its relations. In this sense, on talk about a multiplicity ways of be young, each one bounded to several manners of political participation. In short, this study wants to demonstrate that the Brazilian youth, as full social category of senses is worthy of studies that become significant and that facilitate the understanding of its dynamics in terms of Brazilian politics and culture. Its actions, along the studied period, reveal an university youth committed with the construction of new ethical and political values, that can reach new forms of social organization
