RESUMO

Acording to world health organiztion (WHO), until 2025, Brazil will have the sixth largest elderly population in the world. Against this reality the miss understanding of ageing process and its particularities in Brazil social context still to be discuss. Historically ageing process has Dever been a major concern in the so called "third world". As a Mather of fact these subject is so relevant that some physicians were obligate to find specialization in EUfope to learn how to treat elderly some years ago. Now a day some discreet changes have been taken place. Such as the creation of suboffice of elderly, placed in Brasilia, and the statute of elderly. This changes point to a new beggining were shows a improvement in a quality of live in Brazil and start a new era were the rigths of old people must be respect. As well as its acess to health care, cultUfe, work and its sociallife. Following this pattern the family health care program (FHCP) plays an important role. It prepares its workers to pay attention on geriatric care and the gerontology study to make old people accessibility easier and suplly ali their needs. Especially in the unit "Jardim Copa", basic units of heath care, efforts have been made to integrate workers and elder patient to a comam figth against prejudice and its consequences. This is a qualitative study, IDade throw research on bibliografic study reiated to elder and interpretative responses given by the interrogated patients, were the main goal was understanding the ageing process and its consequences. Showing up some importante results as the workers specialization to deaI with aged people
