O ensino de matematica : evolução e modernização

RESUMO
Whit the purpose of analyzing the origins and the principal characteristics of the International Movement for the Modernization of Mathematical Teaching in secondary schools, which occurred at the beginning of this century, as well as the influences exerted by this movement in different countries, in particular ? Brazil, this work presents an historical study of the teaching of mathematics. Starting with primary and secondary resources about the subject, the historical study is developed in three stages. In the first, we accompany the development of mathematical education until we identify the presence of the fist elements of renovation of this teaching. In the second stage we analyze the first experiences of renovation of secondary education in various countries starting from the end of the past century, the necessities that lead to the formation of the International Commission for Mathematical Teaching and the first International Movement for the Modernization of Mathematical Teaching in secondary schools. The last stage presents general lines taken by teaching of mathematics in brazilin secondary schools until the moment in which this level of teaching stars to suffer influences of the Modernization Movement. This work ends with final considerations about the consequences that this movement brings to the teaching of mathematics and establishes some connections between this movement and the Modern Mathematics Movement of the 1950?s
