RESUMO

The main purpose of this research is the labor theory along the best known macroeconomic models. We begin with the controversy about the unemployment concept in the market-clearing framework; we consider this approach inappropriate to deal with the nowadays unemployment rate, even in the developed countries. We prefer to think about the unemployment as a social problem, rooted in the class struggle and social organization, rather than reduced to a simple economic misfunction. Economy has always had great difficulty in taking into account the labor variable, and labor economics lacks a mainstream theory. This paper explores the labor economic side of some models without getting into conclusions.
