RESUMO
O objetivo deste trabalho é estudar como a mecânica foi influenciada pelo desenvolvimento da geometria não-euclidiana durante o século XIX. Este estudo parte das primeiras teorias das geometrias não-euclidianas, até o formalismo desenvolvido com a introdução da geometria diferencial não-euclidiana, e a geometrização da mecânica. Nesse contexto, estudamos como princípio de mínima ação, na mecânica, e o estudo das geodésicas, na geometria diferencial não- euclidiana, se mostraram relacionados, e de que forma esses dois conceitos formaram a base da mecânica não-euclidiana e, posteriormente, da relatividade Abstract : The aim of this work is to study how mechanics was influenced by the development of the non-Euclidean geometry during nineteenth century. This study starts from the first non-Euclidean geometries, and then studies the formalism developed by the non-Euclidean differential geometry, and the geometrization of the mechanics. In this context, we study how the mechanical principle of least action, and the study of geodesics, in non-Euclidean differential geometry, are related, and how these concepts made the basis of the non-Euclidean mechanics, and, afterwards, of the general relativity
