RESUMO

The work emphasizes the way students draw the urban landscape and which elements are represented more often. Discussing the concept of landscape, its evolution, the main tendencies and adopting the cultural landscape as the basis of understanding in this work. We have constructed a model of analysis for the drawings based on the discussion of scholastic pos-formalism, looking for a drawing conceptual and theoretical deepening in the historical - cultural knowledge development perspective. The following question has guided the present research : Which elements, in different scales, are pointed out in the urban landscape drawing? Aiming an answer we ve worked with 30 students aged between 11 and 13 years old regularly matriculated in the elementary school fifth degree, school year of 1998, that have done a field work at the school surroundings, where they answered questions and made drawings, in Jardim Santana at the northeast zone of Campinas. To analyze the drawings we have constructed an instrumental composed of the five items: a) plan of representation, b) conceptual and/or figurative drawings, c) different scales, d) titles and e) cultural expressions. The analysis has been divided into two initial parts : the drawings of the first sheet of paper - IA (to draw the landscape the child was seeing) and the second sheet drawing - 2A (to draw the soil profile and stand out the different aspects). The division was necessary, according to our point of view, because there are two very different scales, nevertheless the "scale difference" doesn t mean that equal elements are represented in different ways. We have intended, with our work, to discuss the drawing as a unique and different language from writing, keeping unpaired elements and cognitive characteristics in the production of knowledge
