RESUMO

The residence care of the child with cancer in chemotherapy is an constant activity develops to the family, in especial for the family caregiver, that facing many uncertainties and difficulties in the performance of your paper, needs of more support of the services and different attention of the nursing professionals. In this perspective, this study intent to understand the lived type of family caregiver when realize the residence care of the child with cancer in chemotherapy, as well, to describe as the caregiver lives the care of a child in chemotherapy; to investigate the factories that interfering in the performance of residence care; and to know the way as the caregiver facing the difficulties in this process of care. The research, of the quality nature, was realized in the day hospital of an Onco-Hematology service, from a pediatric general public hospital, of the terciary attention, at the Fortaleza-CE, in the months of june to august of the 2006. Through of formulary, semi-structured interview and direct observation, the study was developed with 16 families, totalized 20 residence caregivers. Those was selected because lived in Fortaleza, and was caregivers of children of 0 to 12 years incompletes, that was realized tree cycles or more of chemotherapy and go back to the home. At first, the caregivers was approached at the institution locus of study, and after this, was realized a residence visit to each family. The data analysis was having by support the sociological phenomenology. The testimonies permitted to discover the concrete categories: the residence care; the signification of residence care; the facilities pointed to the care; the difficulties pointed to the care; and, the ways of facing of caregiver. The results showed that the residence care of the child with cancer attributing to the family new responsibilities and cause sudden changes at your customary, that are lived close up to the caregivers families with insecurity and anxious. The caregivers are overloaded to the diary routine of cares activities, aggravated to the lack of financial and social support. The care is realized of peculiar way to each family, and appears as a human action influenced to the individual characteristics of the caregivers and to the cultural world where live, that motivate e direct yours behaviors and attitudes related to the illness, hospitalizations, and expectative cause to the treatment of the children. The behavior of residence caregiver as actor of care to child with cancer and the signification that he attributes to this action, demonstrate that is necessary identify conflicts lived to the families, besides emotions and physicals care and orientations specifics passed traditionally, because the childrens cancer interfering in the families interpersonal relationships too, and these, interfering in treatment and recover of the children. So, knowing the fragilities and competencies to the families to the care of child with cancer at residence, its possible to assist them avoiding stereotypes associated to limitation or incapacitate of the families to this care, offering support if need, and considering the creative and positive ways that them meeting to deal with the difficulties facing to treatment chemotherapy as valid strategies in this care process.
