RESUMO
The objective of this work was to analyze the family experiences of the Terena native people in the village Córrego do Meio, located near Sidrolândia/MS - Brazil, trying to identify themes that allow an understanding of the current configuration, within the social, emotional and cultural aspects. Considering the closeness of the contacts, along the years, between the Terena native people and the involving national society, it could be noticed a generating relationship of cultural interferences and, consequently, a gradual increase on the social, economic and religious influence of such society. This work was conducted with three native families who lived in Córrego do Meio, using the ethnographic and socio- historical approaches, and as resources, open interviews, observations of the participants, and photographs. The results showed a reality in which culture and tradition are losing space in a slow and silent process. It is not only the ready contact with the involving national society that promotes a gradual cultural characterization change of the Terena native people in Córrego do Meio, but it is also a probable difficulty within the families in assuming the transmitter role of the culture and the identity of their people.
