RESUMO

This research utilizes a case study of the Tim Lopes Journalistic Investigation Award to understand modules and procedures used to promote the inclusion of social issues in the media, specifically, sexual violence against children and adolescents in Brazil . This initiative inverts the logic used by most journalism awards by not awarding a finished and/or published product, but by investing in the process, by offering technical and financial support to the winners, so they can develop the proposed investigation, with the commitment that the articles/stories will be published/aired in the future. The case study of the Tim Lopes Journalistic Investigation Award seeks to support a journalistic practice that proposes an innovative relationship with the civil society and the media by bringing in progressive elements to News Studies and by increasing the number of people who can to influence the newsmaking. The object of this study explores the challenges and possibilities of hybridizing antithetic trends, agenda-setting and social-setting, news-values and service-values as well as investigative journalism and institutional journalism.
