O computador como ferramenta de auxílio ao processo projetual da arquitetura : o processo de aprendizagem e o atual uso das ferramentas digitais pelos arquitetos

RESUMO

This paper aims to investigate the use of computer in the architectural projecting from the moment of its conception up to the communication in the place of its execution, regarding the tools encompassed in the CAD (computer aided design) program. The identification of the approach of how CAD is learned and its consequences for the methodology of projecting in the professional practice has been searched. What professionals think regarding to the use of CAD and its influences in the architecture tasks were searched as well. The research investigated if professionals are benefiting themselves of the advantages of the use of the computer in Architecture, from the conception of the projects, including experimenting, better understanding of volumes, forms, textures, lightning, shadows, etc; or if they were only using it for the sake of final representation of the project. We observed that professionals and students use the computer and CAD tools more as means of filing project data than to make decisions during the process of projecting. For this purpose, a sample questionnaire was distributed; bibliographic research was done; students of Architecture of the UnB and of the UCG as well as Architects of a wide age range and from other Brazilian states were interviewed. The analysis of the final results of the research confirmed the initial hypothesis, tendencies and difficulties of the professionals and students while users of computers and of the graphic programs. The systematization and analysis of the data demanded a reflection on the means and the processes of projecting used. We expect that this paper clarifies the initial statements proposed in terms of how the students and professionals interviewed have been using the computer tools, and from this point help to improve the professional practice of projecting and learning of computer skills at the University of Architecture. To encourage and to favor the use of computer in the conception of projecting, it is necessary to understand the process of projecting, to know the possibility of the CAD systems, and, mainly, to use a teaching methodology of CAD which highlights a challenging three-dimensional work, stimulating the experimenting of new solutions towards an analysis as close as possible to reality.
