RESUMO

The aim of this study was understanding the meaning of searching for a Spiritualistic Center as part of a therapeutic itinerary when treating some life and health situations. For the proposes of this study, it was used the antroplogy referential of health and therapeutic itinerary based on Kleinmans System of Health and Care model and Geertzs interpretative point of view. A qualitative approach study, of exploring type one, having its data collection inspired by participative observation and semi-instructed interview. Eleven informers participated the study, searching for therapeutic practises developed in a Kardecist Spiritualistic Center, situated in a southern capital city. The data were treated from Bardins content analyses, which resulted in the construction of the following thematic axles: the search for care practises and treatment for some situations of life. This study tried to show onessearch for therapeutic practices for the care and treatment in some situations of their lives, making an understanding of the insertion in their itinerary and an approximation with their social-culture universe. It was said that the received welcome, the self-knowledge that allowed them to think about their lives and the knowledge that led to the understanding of the experiences that they were dealing with, contributed to ease or solve their sufferings and illnesses.When developing their practise, even with the foundation of the spiritualistic doctrine, the Spiritualistic Center has an organized structure, suggesting a medical care within its space. The study brings contributions inciting singular discussion and reflection about the importance of the opening for other ways of caring, allowing us to hold talks among the different knowledge areas and building a more sensitive care for the different situations in peoples lives. It opens new perspectives so that other researchers can deepen the questions here showed.
