RESUMO

The internal slave traffic practice was intensified since the prohibition of the Atlantic slave traffic in 1850 and lasted until the abolition occurred as one of the alternatives to relocate slave labor. The intraprovincial slave traffic was done between different regions of the same province and interprovincial slave traffic was done between different provinces. Many studies have been dedicated to this subject in Brazil, but favoring the plantation regions of the 19th century, mainly São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro, harming the regions that have an internal market subsistence. There fore, the objective on this work is to research the internal slave traffic in Mariana, county and districts, during the second half of the 19th century. We will identify the slave profile negotiated there as well as the destiny given to these slaves to check if they were being kept or transferred to Mariana from other regions of Minas or other provinces. For this research we will use, mainly the records of slave purchase and sale found in the Arquivo da Casa Setecentista de Mariana between 1850 and 1886
