RESUMO

The following work presents the research results, which aims to understand the repertoire of the music chosen and the musical practices in the elementary School, commonly guided by teachers with no formal musical education. It has been verified that the educational agent finds in music an important ally to perform many daily educational activities turning them into something more pleasurable and interesting. It is investigated what are the musical references of those agents, the way they practice them and why they do so. Starting from the analysis of the musical practice, the collected repertoire and viewing it through a social approach, it is sought to understand the preferences of each musical agent, to verify what guides their musical taste and actions, being aware that the social actors never act without a basis, according to Bourdieu, they never perform gratuitous acts. Their actions are simultaneously determined by the habitus and by the structures of the area they act. Supported by the concepts developed by Pierre Bourdieu, the aim is to establish a connection between repertoire and life style. The work stands in a qualitative research approach. The analyzed data reveals that the subtle differences of musical tastes among participants could be related to the first and primary musical experiences they had in their childhood. The justification of that work is the contribution it might give in the research field, especially regarding the teacher education enlarging the possibilities to understand the musical acts at school, emphasizing the Medio Vale region, in Santa Catarina
