RESUMO

A new multiplex scheme is introduced, which is based on Mallatâs multiresolution formulation of wavelet systems. After the presentation of the basic tools for the development of this work, the system is introduced and a number of schemes is shown, with different configurations, so as to illustrate the potential and versatility of this new multiplex approach. This system is adaptable and its implementation is well matched to digital signal processors and digital computers. The approach, termed multiresolution division multiplex (MRDM), is intensive in signal processing tools, is extremely flexible and can combine a variety of tributaries of different spectral characteristics. A broad variety of wavelet systems {ϕk(t),ψj,k(t)} can endow with MRDM. The resulting channel waveforms and, consequently the spectral shape and system performance depend upon the selected wavelets. Demultiplexing can be done efficiently, thanks to calculation algorithms that possess a computational complexity that increases only linearly with the length of the input signals
