RESUMO

This aims to know the critical path followed by women facing the violence in the city of São Leopoldo, through the analysis of discursive practices from a group of workers of social institutions. An intentional selection of institutions was carried out, including the following areas: health, education, police force, law and communitarian and two representatives of each sector had been interviewed. From the actors discursive practices we perceived that the violence perpetrated against women is a problem of high frequency and low institutional resolution. Throughout the Critical Path process the way that women go through in order to break with the violence many users do not receive shelter in the services and, despite the creation of a Center of Reference for Women, there is still a lot to be done to accomplish the public policies. The actors speeches had been enunciated from the institutional position they occupy, and in these speeches they had minimized the womens request for help, saying that they were guilty. The community organizations workers were the most sympathetic and understandable. This research results show that there is not an only route or an ideal itinerary: instead of this, the route undertaken by many women is long, painful and, sometimes, inefficient. Not all the routes followed by the women in São Leopoldo could be known, however, given the fact that other services are available in the city, certainly will make possible for other ways to happen
