RESUMO

The coastline offers a veritable mosaic of diversity in coastal landforms, which enable the development of a number of different economic activities. Coastal environments are highly dynamic and involve a complex series of continental and oceanic processes. The beach of Pero, located between Cape Buzios and Cabo Frio, Rio coast, appears as an area distinct from the rest of the state of Rio de Janeiro, with respect to geology, geomorphology and climate. It is necessary to understand the sediment dynamics governing each type of coastal environment, so that there is a subsidy to the occupation of the coast, without being put at risk the loss of life and / or material goods. Therefore, we sought to analyze and interpret the morphodynamic characteristics of the beach area and adjacent submarine retroterra dunes on the beach of Pero, as an aid to proper use of space on coastal morphodynamics bases. For this study, we performed topographic profiles across the beach and dunes, engaging them, the bathymetric profiles of the seafloor, and perform sampling and analysis of sediments in all inflection points of the three systems (dune, beach and underwater zone) , shoreface being analyzed through a sampling grid. The dune field of the coastal plain are available Peró obliquely stretch of beach with NE-SW direction, aided by winds predominantly from the NE. As to the state of the arc of morphodynamic beach Pero, the most northerly point showed different dynamics compared to the other three points, showing for almost all periods analyzed as a dissipative beach. The other three profiles show up as an intermediary in almost its entirety, is the state most found the terrace of low tide. There was also toggle these points to the reflective state, when the gradient of the beach is soft, and it is eroded, making the slope of the beach face and sharp. The bottom surface of the shoreface is almost completely made up of fine sediments with some deposits of coarse sand and medium, caused by diffraction of waves caused by the islands facing the coastal plain of Pero. These fine-grained sands located on the seabed are transported to the beaches through the waves, and end up making the gradient of the beach softer, favoring sediment transport by wind, for the formation of the dune field.
