RESUMO

A new route of introduction of silicone on PA - 6,6 chain by polycondensation of a mixture of the correspondent salts, nylon and sylon (2 and 5%) in a pilot reactor, the last one was previously obtained from amine-silicone and adipic acid in THF as a solvent, was developed. The polycondensation reaction was carried at 253°C and 18 bar in pilot reactor. The products were obtained as pelIets and latter submitted to melt injection. Samples of PA - 6,6 modified by 2% of sylon salt were also obtained in a two-screw extruder. The modified samples were characterized by DRX, IR, TGA, DSC and DMA. The products morphologies were analyzed by FESEM and EDS, and the mechanical properties were determined by tensile/deformation and IZOD impact resistance. AlI samples of modified PA - 6,6 presented homogeneous and pearled appearance. The polymer thermal stability was not affected by the introduction of silicone. A decreasing in Tg of PA - 6,6 was observed on the samples obtained from reactor. The morphology was characterized by the presence of domains rich in silicone distributed on the amorphous phase of the PA - 6,6, mainly on the samples from the reactor, suggesting the possibility of covalent bonds between the polymeric phases. The addition of silicone did not affect the tensile strength, specific deformation and modulus of PA - 6,6, but a tendency of increasing on the impact resistance was observed with the introduction of silicone.
