RESUMO

The present work has the objective to show the survey of the Aristolochia species (family Aristolochiaceae), that occurs from spontaneous, subspontaneous and cultured forms within São Paulo State. The specific diagnoses was elaborated through data in herborized collections from several national and foreign Herbarium. Information about leaf anatomy of five species, the organographic description of the vegetative structure of propagation and reserve, and the observations phenological aspect were obtained through observed materiaIs and r collected directly from the field. It was verified sixteen species within the study area; thirteen are spontaneous, two are cultureds and just one is subspontaneous, this originated from Southern Brasil, Argentina and Paraguay. The criteria utilized in the elaboration of the dichotomic analytical key for the identification of the species, were based on vegetative and reprodutive organographic characters. Attempts were made to organize the probable phylogeny of these species and their relationship with other genera as well of the family, but this study was prejudiced by the absence of several important elements. For example, a little specie s sample, into a very large genus. It has been observed that Aristolochia species included in this survey, occur in every kinds of natural vegetation from São Paulo State. For example; restingas, atlantic forest, altitude forest, water-forest and cerrados. In other Brasilian States, they also occur in rupestral fields and caatingas. Mostly species are found in clearing forest, or around watercourses, or transition vegetation areas, and sometimes, they can develop in culture areas.
