RESUMO

Soybean crop have a great economic importance in the world and have a large cultivated area. With the intensification of agriculture and the quest for increased productivity, know the date of occurrence of phenological stages is crucial and allows the management and applications of herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and nutrients at the right time, in addition to programming harvest and can thus optimize the results. The objectives were to find the minimum base temperature for development and a model to predict the flowering date for different genotypes of soybean in the central-southern Brazil. A total of 40 soybean cultivars tested in 11 environments during the agricultural years 2002/03 and 2003/04. The experimental design was randomized complete block with two replications. All practices were performed to ensure the best performance for the environment. Climatic data were obtained by Somar Meteorologia. To find the minimum base temperature methodology was used the lowest standard deviation and the model was based on a multiple regression. The minimum base temperature was found for the vegetative phase of development for each genotype (between 8 and 15°C), and the indeterminated growth habit varieties showed lower values when compared to determinated, but the method was not efficient to find the temperatures of the reproductive period. The model to estimate the number of days required to flowering for each cultivar and environment was statistically effective and the coefficient of variation obtained was 98.4%. Due to the low variation of photoperiod in the sites studied, there was no relevance of this factor in the model, emphasizing the need for studies in a wider range of latitudes and seasons to a better understanding of this component.
