RESUMO

The development of a suitable mathematical model, in steady state and dynamic conditions , to carry out optimization and control of the large scale incineration process, stimulated the approach proposed in this work. The development of the mass and energy balances, as well as all the flows of heat, conductive, convective and radiative, were idealized to have simultaneous solution of all the equations, with a well-known numeric method, Newton-Raphson, Levenberg-Marquardt or SQP. The temperatures obtained for: the solids, gas, intern wall, external wall, total heat lost by the walls , concentrations of dioxins and products of incomplete combustion Can be compared with another approach used to solve this kind of problem, to know ,the analogy of the flows heat with electric circuits. The comparison of the two methods allows identify the best method in the computational (time) and results (elose to real dates) point of view. The software, developed for this work, allows to observe the dynamics of the combustion process, for common oscillations in the industrial practice, such as variations in the feeding temperatures of the residue, the air and the fuel flows. The dynamic model is also capable to represent the star up and the shut down ofthe plant. The control system involves, implemented in the dynamic model, a study based on feedback and feed forward control. The feedback loop has controllers type PID and the feedforward predicts the process using experimental planning. The work, also uses optimization techniques, to obtain the best performance of the operation, reducing the consumption of fuel for the largest possible amount of residues fed. With a good and reliable deterministic model describing the main features, taking place in large scale incinerator equipment, it is possible to define optimal operating strategies as well as adequate control policy in such way that high operation performance can be obtained. Also with the model its possible to take decisions in earlier stages of the equipment design
