RESUMO

In this work. an object based method for geological modeling named Stochastic Modeling ar Geometric Objects is proposed. to simulate the geometry and the architecture of fluvial reservoirs in a case study. Fluvial reservoirs are formed by channel fill deposits. which are the basic unit of the reservoir. The object channel is represented in cross-section by the geometry of the semi-elipse surface. The use of the parametric and implicit representations of the semi-elipse makes the algoritm efficient to generate and to visualize objects. The volumes estimation associated to surfaces generated with this strategy is equa11y facilitated. Using the parametrization of the subsurface geologic model of the Aço Formation Potiguar Basin. from a very well developed oil freld. the experimental distributions functions of the parameters which defIne a channel into a three-dimensional domain were constructed. These used parameters are: the thickness and the width related of the reservoirs individualized as fming-upward sucessions from cores and geologic cross-sections. the sinuosity and channels preferential direction measured on geologic maps of the same freld where the method was tested. The global proportion curve of lithofacies controIs the distribuition of the reservoirs within the simulated domain. The simulation process of each object starts from a random point into the space and with random samples oí their parameters on the respective functions and ends when a11 conditioning weUs are honoured and the reservoir proportion is reached. The accepted objects are built by discrete geometric modeling of the surfaces. The equiprobable architecture of the reservoir in three dimensions is a result of erosion. superposition and union of the generated objects. One may have sections of the domain on any direction or plane. with several options oí scientifIc visualization. The simulations are consistent with a11 the 30 conditioning wells used. The high potential ar this method results in realistic three-dimensional representations of fluvial reservoirs. with the exhibition aí the typical diagonal channels stacking. The realizations are usefu1 to access the uncertainties related to the architecture and reservoirs volume estimations. and to validate sedimentological interpretations in two or three-dimensions. The method has potential to subsidize new wen perforations and the studies of reservoir flow analysis
