RESUMO

The inadequate management of the soil and water resources has produced serious ecological, economical and social impacts. Watersheds are important environmental units which supply water for reservoirs, urban regions and farms. Water cycle dynamic in watershed is being seriously affected by soil erosion and sediment transport. This investigation goals to study water erosion behavior in RibeirÃo Marcela watershed in order to estimate parameters for empirical soil erosion models calibration, simulating impacts produced by different land use at the erosion process. In addition, to analyze surface runoff behavior in watershed, applying CN-SCS method and Nash Conceptual Model for Instantaneous Unit Hydrograph (IUH) estimation. The watershed has presented low soil erosion rate, being pedologic characteristics very important to explain the erosion process. The highest soil erosion rates were found for Cambissol occupied by grasses and degraded eucalyptus plantation. The most critical situations were simulated for land use by degraded eucalyptus with high soil exposition, especially, in Cambissol units. Important hydrological behavior was detected in watershed, verifying high rate base flow, being the watershed classified as high potential for âwater productionâ. CN-SCS method has not presented good surface runoff prediction, being necessary previous physical adjusts. Although, IUH estimated by Nash Conceptual Model has presented good accuracy for modeling of surface runoff hydrograph in watershed.
