RESUMO

A study about the species of myxomycetes that occur on E. Guineensis L. (palm oil) was undertaken with the aim of continuing the survey the this groupâs representatives in Brasil that are associated to palm trees. The incidence, abundance and taxonomic diversity (species/genera) of sporocarps on stipes, leaves, bracts, inflorescences, and fruits (live or dead) were analized in 20 individuals present in three fragments of Atlantic Forest of the Reserva EcolÃgica do GurjaÃ, Cabo de Santo Agostinho municipality, state of Pernambuco (08Â10â00ââ and 08Â15â00ââS; 35Â02â30ââ and 35Â05â00ââW.). Abundance was evaluated based on the relationship between the taxonâs number of specimes and the total obtained and the following classes were adopted: rare (0, 5-1%), occasional (2-4%), commom (5-7%), and abundant (over 7%). Exsiccates were deposited at the UFP Herbarium. The species were listed in alphabetical order under each subclass, indicating the distribution known for Brasil as well as their registers for palm trees in this country. The palm oil proved to be an excellent substrate for the development of myxomycetes. All of the subclasses, five of the six orders, and 50% of the families recognized for this class were registered. In this study 22 espÃcies were added to the list of myxomycetes associated to palm oil in Brasil; of these, Ceratiomyxa sphaerosperma, Didymium anellus and Physarum gyrosum, had not been referred to as occurring on palm oil trees in this country. In the ambient studied, the Physaraceae are the most frequent, followed by the Trichiaceae. Hemitrichia serpula, Arcyria cinerea, and Physarum compressum are common species, confirming their preference in associating to palm trees. It is concluded that the dendezeiroâs myxomycete biota is diverse in preserved Atlantic Forest areas, occurring preferentialment on dead organs
