Mídia e política externa brasileira: a diplomacia midiática na crise do impeachment de Dilma (2016)

RESUMO

Resumo Ao analisar a atuação da mídia nos recentes fenômenos políticos e sociais, é possível dizer que a imprensa tem desempenhado papel de destaque nos diálogos internacionais. No início do século XXI, o governo brasileiro percebeu a relevância de investir em novas práticas de política externa, especialmente, a partir da modificação do exercício diplomático que incluiu os veículos de comunicação como ferramenta importante. É dentro dessa perspectiva que este artigo pretende analisar o uso da diplomacia midiática no governo Dilma (2011-2016) durante a crise que motivou seu impeachment, usando como base as reflexões teóricas das áreas de Relações Internacionais e da Comunicação, bem como, as informações disponíveis nos canais institucionais do governo brasileiro, a fim de avaliar em que medida o recurso foi utilizado pelo Estado.Abstract In analyzing the performance of the media in recent political and social phenomena, it is possible to say that the press has played a prominent role in international dialogues. At the beginning of the 21st century, the Brazilian government realized the importance of investing in new foreign policy practices, especially from the modification of the diplomatic exercise that included the communication vehicles as an important tool. It is within this perspective that this article intends to analyze the use of media diplomacy in the Dilma government (2011-2016) during the crisis that motivated its impeachment, based on the theoretical reflections of the areas of International Relations and Communication, as well as the information available in the institutional channels of the Brazilian government, in order to assess the extent to which the resource was used by the State.
